The word jewelry is derived from Latin word jocale, means plaything. But it is the most ancient form of body ornamentation. In ancient times, jewelry was used to be made from bone, animal teeth, shells, wood, carved stones, etc. A specific piece was made for each part of the body. Apart from functional use, jewelry was a symbol of wealth, status and membership. It had been used to move wedding dowries, to keep large amount of wealth or to just for artistic display.

With the growing influx of designer or art jewelry, people not only love to wear it but also don`t mind spending lavishly on it. Such designs are made with coins, gemstones, precious stones, etc. and they are set into precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, or white gold. These days most of the gold jewelry is made of an alloy of gold, stating its purity in karat by displaying a number followed by K.

American gold jewelry are of 10 K which is 41.7% gold. Higher purity levels are 22K which is 91.6 % pure and 24K which is 99.9% pure and these levels are used in Asia, Middle East and Africa. For silver jewelry, silver sterling or 92.5% fine silver is used. Besides, the low-priced jewelry is also available. Such jewelries are made with glass, semiprecious stones, wood, shells, bone, ivory, etc. Beads, made of glass, gemstones, metals, clay, polymer clay and wood, are also used to make bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rings.

Among the precious stones, diamonds are said to be the best friends of women. There are other gemstones also like amethyst, ruby, emerald, etc. These gemstones are set into gold, silver and platinum with different techniques to get different finishing such as high-polished or matt. Brushed finishing gives jewelry a soft look, while hammered finishing gives a wavy texture.

Jewelry posed different significance for different cultures. Like in Rome, people with certain ranks were allowed to wear rings. In other case, during 19th and 20th centuries, wearing of earrings by men was considered effeminate. According to recent culture, piercing of body and wearing rings there has become a symbol of courage, while other cultures are against it. Wearing of jewelry has got religious importance too. According to Hinduism, married women should wear necklace of golden and black beads, whereas in Islam, men should wear gold.

The history of jewelry dates back to thousands of years. The first signs of jewelry were found, 40,000 years back, in Cro-Magnons who originated from Middle East and migrated to Europe. They used to make jewelry with bones, teeth, stone hung etc. Copper jewelry traces back to 7000 years. In ancient Egypt, jewelry making is 3000- 5000 years old. They preferred gold to other materials and used colored glass in place of gems. Then the signs of jewelry found in other places too like Mesopotamia, Greece, Italy, India, and China and all over.

The trend of modern jewelry started in 1940s at the end of World War II. George Jensen and other designers propogated the idea of wearable jewelry using different materials like Precious Metal Clay, plastics, semi precious stones, and coloring techniques. Artisans also played important role in setting trends in jewelry. Now the jewelry designing has become a source of money and to satisfy the passion of art.

According to recent studies, American market holds the largest place with a market share of 30.8%, Japan, India and China and the Middle East each with 8 – 9% and finally Italy with 5%. Also it is predicted that there will be dramatic change in the statistics of market share by 2015, having India and China in the topmost position.

It is available in a variety of styles and colors. The type of necklace is chosen depending upon the neckline of the bride’s dress as well as the color and pattern. According to fashion experts, a long necklace would look good with a deep neck, while a choker would suit a smaller neckline.

Armbands: An armband is called ‘Bajubandh’ in Hindi.

Traditionally, when men wore jewelry, it was symbolic of status, clanship or bravery. Indeed, ornamentation for men in ancient times was used to enhance the accessories that supported their roles in society, whether it was as a warrior, a blacksmith or a king. Everything from helmets and swords to crest on shields and rings for men raised metal craft to a level beyond what we would call jewelry today.

It is the image of these times, when the metal that has become what we call stainless steel today, was used to forge one of the ultimate symbols of manhood, the sword. The same proud craftsmanship is brought to bear in the stainless steel necklaces for men, the gleam of stainless steel connects to the underlying emotion of courage that men find a natural extension of their essence.

The brilliant sheen of stainless steel is due to its chromium content; it must contain at least 10.5% chromium to remain “stainless.” This is the element that reacts with the oxygen in the air to form an invisible surface layer that prevents corrosion. The higher the amount of chromium, the more resistant the material will be to corrosion.

For those with allergies, the best stainless steel jewelry is made without nickel, making it magnetic in nature. There are many people who have allergies to nickel metal and hence, have turned to stainless steel jewelry. In modern times, it is the hypo allergenic properties of stainless steel that made it the metal of choice for surgical instruments and naturally evolved to be the metal best for jewelry used in body piercing.

But the designs crafted by jewelers today are far from the sterile concept of surgical steel; stainless steel jewelry appeals to a wide variety of men who like the idea of wearing a stainless steel necklace, bracelet or chain because it is definitively masculine, a nearly indestructible alloy.

You will find a wide range of exemplary designs that reflect a keen appreciation of the strength and beauty of working with high quality grade of stainless steel. The line and form of our stainless steel bracelets, necklaces and chains for men are made to suit every man’s style; from bold and brash to cool and understated.

There are many jewelers who produce custom stainless steel necklaces, bracelets and chains for men that are absolutely stunning in design. Our collection of men’s stainless steel jewelry designs are unique; unlike anything you will find in a traditional jewelry store. Complementing the stainless steel necklaces are a wide variety of pendants in popular designs such as Celtic, Gaelic and modern contemporary. Many of the stainless steel necklaces come with matching bracelets as well.

Men’s jewelry manufactured from stainless steel has many other advantages over composite alloy jewelry; it will not tarnish, it is rugged enough to withstand the most rigourous activity and in the unlikely event your stainless steel necklace were to become damaged it can easily be repaired without losing the integrity of the original piece.

As the choice for the man in your life who has a unique sense of style, nothing is more appropriate to enhance his personality than a beautifully designed stainless steel necklace, chain or bracelet. You can purchase this particular item of men’s jewelry with confidence that it can be worn without any adverse reaction that could be caused should he have sensitive skin and without sacrificing style. Jewelry is the perfect gift to commemorate any occasion; birthdays, graduation, marriage or just to let him know how special he is to you. Make your selection for the man in your life from the outstanding collections of distinctive designs and he is sure to be pleased.
