Elasticated
seam section.
1 – non-elasticated fabric.
2 – two-way elastic insert.
3 – position of seam and joining of the two fabrics.
The traditional fabrics (1) are assembled
by means of a traditional seam (3) over the two-way
elastic fabric underneath. The two pieces of traditional
fabric (1) do not come into contact with each other because
the two-way elastic fabric (3) acts as a bridge or as a shock-absorber
between the two.

After the three fabrics have been assembled,
the seam is opened and no stitching is visible.

Seam
perspective section.
This type of seam is more resistent
than a normal seam in as much as the pull of normal body movements
is absorbed by the two-way elastic fabric. A traditional seam,
on the contrary, is more likely to become distorted because
it is rigid.
